KCK Sues EPA Over Move

Kansas City, KS – Citing irreparable harm to the community of Kansas City Kansas, Unified Government filed suit today against the federal government. The action asks the general Services Administration be barred from moving EPA regional headquarters to Lenexa.

The heart of the case centers on two Presidential Executive Orders to keep federal jobs in the central city, to strengthen and sustain urban cores. The suit calls the Lenexa site " one of the worst examples of suburban sprawl."

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City light rail advocate Clay Chastain is trying to get still another plan before voters.

Missouri officials say the deadly tornado that hit Joplin last month contributed substantially to a net loss of 13,000 jobs in the state.

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon says the state will play a long-term role in rebuilding housing in Joplin after the deadly May tornado.

A new smartphone application allows users to get detailed information about Missouri state parks.

    FBI Sting Nets Four Cop Charges

    Kansas City, KS – Six months after the FBI staged a snare for selected Kansas City Kansas police officers, three have been charged with stealing. They are Jeffrey Bell, Darryl Forest and Dustin Sillings. The allegations date back more than a year.

    Charges say the three special weapons team members helped themselves to electronics gear, ipods, cameras and cash when they served search warrants on homes.

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Many bargain-hunting foodies in Kansas City are rejoicing this weekend. The grocery store chain Trader Joe's has finally opened its doors in two locations: Ward Parkway Mall and on 119th Street in Leawood. For ten years, local customers have been begging the company to open a store here.

    Jury Affirms Jackson as Waldo Rapist

    Bernard Jackson, convicted on all accounts in mid 80's attacks on KC women.

    KANSAS CITY, MO. – There is no more "alleged" about it. The man accused as the Waldo Rapist from the 1980's is found guilty late this afternoon.

    53 year old Bernard Jackson is convicted by a Jackson County Circuit Court Jury.

    The verdicts were read on 18 counts, one after another, guilty of rape, guilty of sodomy, guilty of robbery.
