Kansas City, MO – Kansas Congressmen Dennis Moore will not run for his seat again next year.

Kansas City's ethics commission has declined to dismiss three allegations of ethics violations against Mayor Mark Funkhouser.

Prosecuting attorneys in Missouri are taking issue with the use of the phrase "constitutional crisis" to describe the problems facing public defenders across the Show-Me State.

"Going Rogue" as Political Theater

Last week, a local theater director gathered together a bunch of actors to do a satirical reading of former Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin's new book, "Going Rogue."

Thousands of Sarah Palin's supporters have been turning up for book signings around the country. The closest she gets to Kansas City will be Springfield, Missouri on December 2, 2009. But even some of Palin's opponents are kind of curious to hear what's in the book.

StoryCorps In Kansas City: Laurie Avery & Elizabeth Avery

Kansas City, MO – The day after Thanksgiving, Americans will be encouraged to sit down to record a conversation with a loved one. It's part of a project by NPR's StoryCorps called National Day of Listening. KCUR is playing stories recorded 3 years ago when StoryCorps visited Kansas City.

Laurie Avery asked her then 21-year-old daughter, Elizabeth Avery, about a time they hadn't talked much about. After high school, Elizabeth spent two years traveling the United States hitchhiking and hopping freight trains.

    Council Reacts To Sudden Dismissal Of KCMO City Manager Wayne Cauthen

    Kansas City , Mo. – Up to Date follows up on the big news from Kansas City Missouri City Hall on the removal of City Manager Wayne Cauthen.

    In a 6-6 vote yesterday, the Council removed Cauthen after Mayor Mark Funkhouser suddenly suspended Cauthen just hours earlier.

    Missouri's State Retirement System Looking To Cut Bonuses

    Jefferson City, MO – The board that oversees Missouri's State Employees Retirement System, or MOSERS, is crafting a proposal that would bar employees from receiving bonuses during years when the pension fund loses money.

    Earlier this year, MOSERS staff members received around $400,000 in performance incentives, even though investments made by the system lost money in 2008. Democratic State Treasurer Clint Zweifel sits on the board and voted in favor of ending that practice.

    K-State Audit Prompts Policy Changes

    Kansas City, MO – Compensation for Kansas State University football coach Bill Snyder accounted for most of $845,599 in questionable payments cited by a state audit. The university's president said Thursday that none of them were improper.

    President Kirk Schulz told the Kansas Board of Regents, which oversees the state's higher education system, that Snyder did nothing improper - something the coach himself has said repeatedly. Schulz later said the same is true for a former athletic director and former university vice president.
