    Valor Rewarded

    Riverside, MO – Some of the bravest law officers in metro Kansas City have been honored today. They saved lives, in one way or another.

    The highest honor is the Gold for Valor. Roger Lane of Independence Police Department rescued a woman and her three children from an overturned burning car. Officer Chad Pickens from Kansas City's department walked into a gun battle leaving a movie, off-duty. He made the arrest without anyone being hurt.

    Church Opens Fitness Center to Combat Health Problems

    Kansas City, MO – Reverend Eric Williams of Calvary Temple Baptist Church in midtown has worked for a long time on health issues in the African American community. A few years ago, he says he was tired of seeing people suffering and dying from health problems related to obesity and lack of exercise. So his church formed a non-profit and eventually built a gym right next door. The Calvary Community Wellness Center opened in 2008.

    President Of KBA Reacts To NBAF Risk Assessment

    Two reports came out this week about the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility, or NBAF.

    The Department of Homeland Security released a risk assessment for the site, scheduled to begin construction in 2012 in Manhattan, Kan.

    The National Academy of Sciences followed with a Congressionally mandated evaluation of that assessment.

Lisa Loomer's play "Distracted" at the Unicorn Theatre follows a couple's search to get help for their troubled 8-year-old son.
