    Kansas City, MO – The Platte River rises in the Northland.

    A school superintendent from Pueblo Colorado has been chosen from a pool of 50 candidates to lead Kansas City Missouri's district.

    Fewer people are running red lights after red light cameras were installed at 39th and Southwest Trafficway.

    The Missouri House has passed a bill giving citizens a tax cut that would be paid for in part by federal stimulus dollars.

    John Covington Selected To Head KCMO Schools

    Kansas City, MO – The Kansas City Missouri school board unanimously selected a new superintendent yesterday: John Covington, who currently heads a school district in Pueblo, Colorado.

    Covington has been in Pueblo for the past three years. Before that he worked in several smaller districts in Alabama; he's from Montgomery, originally. Covington recently completed training at the Broad Superintendent's Academy in Los Angeles. School board president Marilyn Simmons says that preparation will benefit Kansas City's schools.

    Missouri & Kansas Debate Autism Insurance Mandate

    Kansas City, MO – Just about one in every hundred fifty kids will be diagnosed with autism. Parents and autism researchers say early treatment can make a huge difference in the child's later life. That treatment can cost a lot - tens of thousands of dollars a year. But most insurance companies don't cover it. Well, at least not here. Nine states now require group insurance plans to pay for the diagnosis and treatment of autism. Lawmakers in Kansas and Missouri pushed for similar legislation this year.
