    New Report Links Immigration To Labor Statistics In Midwest

    Kansas City, MO – A new report sponsored by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs documents the growth of recent Mexican immigration in the Midwest, and the effect that immigration on the labor pool. The report's author, Rob Paral, was in town a few weeks ago to talk about the effects of this report on immigration reform. KCUR's Sylvia Maria Gross spoke to Paral about a report that includes data on Missouri but excludes Kansas.

    Artists Remember Painting Argentine Mural

    In August, it will be eleven years since a 220-yard mural went up on Metropolitan Avenue in Kansas City Kansas. The mural spans the history of the Argentine neighborhood, from pre-history to the future.

    Kansas City, MO – The artists who collaborated on the project were from Kansas City and Mexico. And for several of them, painting the mural was a turning point in their lives.

    KU Medical Center Braces For Enrollment Reductions

    Kansas City, KS – Officials at KU Medical Center say stimulus money will carry them through the most recent round of state budget cuts. But as KCUR's Elana Gordon reports, the situation will still mean fewer students next year.

    KU Medical Center recently eliminated nearly 80 jobs - including 10 faculty positions - after a ten percent drop in state funding this year. They also cut some graduate teaching and research opportunities.
