90-Mile View: Amy Farrand

Paul Andrews

"I've never been the kind of person to say 'I don’t think I could do that' but more like 'I’m gonna do THAT!', says singer/songwriter Amy Farrand and from early childhood that attitude has shaped her life both in and out of the music scene.

In today's conversation with Steve Kraske we'll introduce you to the Kansas City woman who has spent more than 20 years carving out a place for herself as a live performer.  Hear how  diversity and resourcefulness have enabled Amy to maintain her independence and allow music to remain front and center in her life.

Hear in KC: Amy Farrand performs at the Uptown Arts Bar, 3611 Broadway, at 9 p.m. on December 28.

When I host Up To Date each morning at 9, my aim is to engage the community in conversations about the Kansas City area’s challenges, hopes and opportunities. I try to ask the questions that listeners want answered about the day’s most pressing issues and provide a place for residents to engage directly with newsmakers. Reach me at steve@kcur.org or on Twitter @stevekraske.
As senior producer of Up To Date, I want our listeners to hear familiar and new voices that shine light on the issues and challenges facing the myriad communities KCUR serves, and to expose our audiences to the wonderful and the creative in the Kansas City area. Just as important to me is an obligation to mentor the next generation of producers to ensure that the important conversations continue. Reach me at alexanderdk@kcur.org.
