H&R Block Recognized For Arts Support

Kansas City, MO – Kansas City-based H&R Block, Inc. has been recognized as one of the 10 best companies in America supporting the arts in 2008.

The Business Committee for the Arts, or BCA, was founded in 1967 by David Rockefeller as a way to bring business and the arts together. BCA's top 10 list for this year's companies showing significant support for the arts included H&R Block, Inc.

H&R Block, Inc. and the H&R Block Foundation contributed more than $12 million over the last 10 years to the arts. The company also has more than 400 pieces of art by local and regional artists on display at its headquarters downtown and collaborated with the Kansas City Repertory Theatre on the 320-seat Copaken Stage that's shared by both organizations.

Kansas City is known for its style of jazz, influenced by the blues, as the home of Walt Disney’s first animation studio and the headquarters of Hallmark Cards. As one of KCUR’s arts reporters, I want people here to know a wide range of arts and culture stories from across the metropolitan area. I take listeners behind the scenes and introduce them to emerging artists and organizations, as well as keep up with established institutions.
