Kansas City FilmFest, And What's Showing In Independent, Foreign And Documentary Film

Platige Films

It's an exciting year for the Kansas City FilmFest. Today, we preview the high-profile guests coming to town, the inclusion of the Dog Film Festival, and the top Midwest films of the year, like Big Sonia. Then, Up To Date's indie, foreign, and documentary film critics explore movies now showing in the metro area, including Wilson, The Last Word, Song to Song, The Lure, The Sense of an Ending, Kedi, Get Out and I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore.

The Kansas City FilmFest runs from April 5 to 9 at Cinemark Palace at the Plaza, 526 Nichols Road, Kansas City, Missouri. For ticketing information, visit KCFilmFest.org.

When I host Up To Date each morning at 9, my aim is to engage the community in conversations about the Kansas City area’s challenges, hopes and opportunities. I try to ask the questions that listeners want answered about the day’s most pressing issues and provide a place for residents to engage directly with newsmakers. Reach me at steve@kcur.org or on Twitter @stevekraske.
