The Lessons We Learn From Our Children

Harper Collins

Parenting books often help new mothers and fathers to understand how they shape their children, but they rarely talk about how children shape their parents.

On Wednesday's Up to DateJennifer Senior joins Steve Kraske to discuss her book All Joy and No Fun: The Paradox of Modern Parenthood. Our current view of children is relatively new and we'll explore the challenges that presents to today's parents. Senior shares stories from the book of moms and dads  that show how they're coping, or not, with the impact their kids are having on them.

Guest:

  • Jennifer Senior, writer for New York magazine and author of All Joy and No Fun: The Paradox of Modern Parenthood

HEAR MORE:

  • Jennifer Senior will be speaking on Thursday, June 5, at 6:30 p.m. at the Central Library, 14 W. 10th St. Kansas City, Mo. Admission is free. RSVP online or call (816) 701-3407.

When I host Up To Date each morning at 9, my aim is to engage the community in conversations about the Kansas City area’s challenges, hopes and opportunities. I try to ask the questions that listeners want answered about the day’s most pressing issues and provide a place for residents to engage directly with newsmakers.
