The New Face Of UMKC Women's Basketball, And Expanding Nursing In Rural Communities

Luke X. Martin

KCUR 89.3
Before becoming head coach of women's basketball at UMKC, Jacie Hoyt held assistant coaching positions at Nevada and Kansas State.

Jacie Hoyt is making waves in the coaching world. At just 29, she's one of the nation's youngest Division I head coaches. Today, she talks about her playing days, coaching influences and vision for UMKC women's basketball. Then, we learn what a new University of Kansas School of Nursing campus in Salina could mean for rural communities in need of more health care professionals.

When I host Up To Date each morning at 9, my aim is to engage the community in conversations about the Kansas City area’s challenges, hopes and opportunities. I try to ask the questions that listeners want answered about the day’s most pressing issues and provide a place for residents to engage directly with newsmakers.
