The Otter, Squirrel And Deer Hunter
If you've ever hunted for your food in the Oregon Trail video game, you know it's no easy task. Now, imagine stepping into the game yourself.
On Monday's Up to Date, guest host Brian Ellison talks with Steven Rinella, author of Meat Eater: Adventures from the Life of an American Hunter about the different ways he hunts and the best way to butcher your catch.
We might find out just what squirrel tastes like... and according to Rinella, it's not chicken.
Steven Rinella is an avid outdoorsman, writer, and television host. He is the author of The Scavenger's Guide to Haute Cuisine, American Buffalo: In Search of a Lost Icon, and the forthcoming Meat Eater: A Natural History of an American Hunter. Rinella's writing has also appeared in many publications, including Outside, Field and Stream, the New Yorker, Glamour, the New York Times, Men's Journal, Salon.com, O the Oprah Magazine, Bowhunter, and the annual anthologies Best American Travel Writing and Best Food Writing.
