Parents, Teens & Eating Disorders: How To Handle A Problem

Jean Fortunet

A plump roast turkey, creamy mountains of mashed potatoes and thick wedges of pumpkin pie are what many people look forward to during the holiday season.

For teens who suffer from an eating disorder, it's the opposite of holiday cheer.

On Monday's Up to Date, we’ll talk with psychologist Wes Crenshaw about how teens develop problems with body image and how these disorders affect their health.

We'll also discuss what you can do to help when you suspect a teenager in your life has a problem.

When I host Up To Date each morning at 9, my aim is to engage the community in conversations about the Kansas City area’s challenges, hopes and opportunities. I try to ask the questions that listeners want answered about the day’s most pressing issues and provide a place for residents to engage directly with newsmakers.
