Seg. 1: Missouri Beekeepers. Seg. 2: Rainy Harvest.

Segment 1: What is the state of the honeybee in Missouri?

Most of the news we hear about honeybees is bad news. Is it really all doom and gloom? Or are honeybees doing better than we thought?

Segment 2, beginning at 24:18: Can rain be too much of a good thing for farming?

Fall is the busiest season for farmers, working day in and day out to harvest the summer's crops. But the recent rain and now freezing temperatures threaten the yield. We talk to farmers about the challenges and rewards of harvesting.

People don't make cameos in news stories; the human story is the story, with characters affected by news events, not defined by them. As a columnist and podcaster, I want to acknowledge what it feels like to live through this time in Kansas City, one vantage point at a time. Together, these weekly vignettes form a collage of daily life in Kansas City as it changes in some ways, and stubbornly resists change in others.
