Kansas City Mayor Sly James  has appointed a 24 member panel to  study the city’s airport needs into the future.

There is current controversy over a plan to convert KCI into one terminal. The Mayor and City Council have agreed to the plan.

There is no time frame for the panel to make recommendations, although the Mayor said he hopes to see some conclusions by the end of 2013.

The group is strictly advisory and reports to the Mayor.
