Dedication of Kansas City's New Performing Arts Center

Officials gathered Tuesday to mark the dedication of the $413 million Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts - and its new city-funded parking garage.

Kansas City, Mo. – Officials gathered Tuesday to mark the dedication of the $413 million Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts - and its new city-funded parking garage.

Kauffman Center Chairman of the Board Julia Irene Kauffman said the project was personal and close to her heart since its inception, nearly two decades ago. She credits the collaborative approach.

Missouri Governor Reacts To Health Care Ruling

Jefferson City, MO – Republicans in Missouri are praising Monday's ruling by a federal judge in Virginia that declared portions of the new federal health care law unconstitutional.

The Missouri Republican Party released a statement criticizing Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill for supporting the bill and "thumbing her nose at the clear will of Missourians."

The State GOP also accused Governor Jay Nixon of ducking the issue altogether.

Nixon did respond to a question about the ruling during a press conference in Columbia on Monday.

More Proof of Changing Show-Me Electorate

Governor holds unusually high approval numbers.

Kansas City, MO – Missouri's Governor has a higher degree of crossover support than most governors in the country. A newly released poll shows Jay Nixon in a strong position halfway through his first term to win a second one.

The independent Public Policy Polling has interesting findings. One is that Nixon is weaker with Democratic voters than most Democratic governors around the U.S. But his numbers with independents and Republicans more than make up for tepid support from his base.
