Debate over Controversial Statue Resumes

This statue, located in front of the police communications building, has sparked years of controversy in Kansas City about art and interpretation.

Renovations of the police communications building mean that a well-known statue will have to find a new home. Will it be sent to storage or be moved to another public spot in Kansas City? The debate is on!

Black Baseball Stars Honored By Stamps

Kansas City, MO – The U.S. Postal Service has taken wraps off two commemorative stamps honoring baseball leagues that led the way toward racial integration. The stamp issue came at the Kansas City Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.

Thurgood Marshall Jr. of the Postal board of Governors noted how Jackie Robinson's 1947 breaking of the color line led to integration of sports and society and politics.

Homicide Probe In KC Country Club District

Kansas City, Mo. – Kansas City police waited for a search warrant today before examining the interior of a house in the upscale Country Club District where the homeowner was found dead this morning. Police identify him as 49 year old Michael J. Tutera. Investigators did not say by what means he was killed, except to say it is a homicide.

Police asked anyone with information to call the Crimestoppers' Hotline at 816-474-TIPS. A police spokesman said detectives were following up on what were termed, "good leads."
