Greinke Helps American League Defeat National League

St. Louis, MO – Kansas City Royals pitcher Zack Greinke did his work handily last night in baseball's 80th All-Star game. If Greinke felt slighted by not getting the start, he didn't show it. The American League defeated the National League, 4-3. KCUR's Greg Echlin has more from St. Louis.

St. Louis, MO – In a baseball season that has taken a downturn in Kansas City since April, there was a ray of hope for a Kansas City Royals starter in this year's All-Star game. Kansas City, MO – If you're taking a walk through Gillham Park on a Thursday evening you might stumble across what looks a little like a high school football practice.

Complete with cracking helmets, conditioning drills and a coach who's less than pleased. But as helmets come off for a quick water break you might find yourself feeling a little surprised by the sight of twenty or so women donning full football pads.

Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp Expected Back In Missouri

Kansas City, MO – After this week, there shouldn't be anything stopping the Chiefs from moving their training camp from Wisconsin back to Missouri. The state is expected to release tax credit money that will help pay for construction of a practice facility at Missouri Western in St. Joseph. KCUR's Greg Echlin has the story.

Overland Park To Host Soccer Championship

Overland Park, KS – The nation's best youth soccer players will face off in Kansas City's largest suburb.

Overland Park will play host to the 2010 U.S. Youth Soccer National Championship. Games will be held at Overland Park's new $36 million soccer complex that opens to the public this summer.

U.S. Youth Soccer Spokesperson Todd Roby says the complex's new fields placed it at the front the applicant pack.

Division II Baseball Teams Aim For World Series

Kansas City, MO – In college sports, Division II schools, like Emporia State and Central Missouri, will begin play in the NCAA baseball tournament Thursday. They're hoping to reach the Division II World Series, which this year will be held outside Raleigh, North Carolina.

Soon there might be a day when those schools will play in the Division II World Series close to home. KCUR's Greg Echlin explains.
