Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright August Wilson visited Kansas City in February to watch a production of Two Trains Running at the Gem Theater in the 18th and Vine district. By Sylvia Maria Gross

Kansas City, MO – Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright August Wilson visited Kansas City in February to watch a production of Two Trains Running at the Gem Theater in the 18th and Vine district. At the time of the interview, Wilson was almost finished with a 10-play cycle chronicling the African American experience in each decade of the 20th century. Two Trains Running takes place in 1969 Pittsburgh. Memphis Lee is trying to get a fair price for his restaurant, which is about to be torn down in an urban development project . KCUR?s Sylvia Maria Gross spoke to Wilson about Pittsburgh?s Hill District, the neighborhood where he grew up.
