Troost Avenue Blues

Singer/Actor Danny Cox

Singing the blues about living on the violent and forgotten side of Troost Avenue.By Delores Jones

Kansas City, MO – Troost Avenue has long been seen as a racial dividing line in Kansas City.
Roger Coleman has lived near the boulevard for almost 35 years, but last year?s increase in homicides in the area started to keep him up at night. Instead of sleeping, he started writing verses ? some 70 of them, describing the people on Troost Avenue and the city?s indifference to them. Those lyrics were set to music by Joe Miquelon and brought to life by Danny Cox in an epic, 30-minute song called the Troost Avenue Blues.

Danny Cox?s Troost Avenue Blues debuts with a live performance Sunday, February 26 at 4pm at BB?s Lawnside Barbeque.
