Funkhouser Supports TIF Taskforce

By Maria Carter

Kansas City, MO – An economic development taskforce is expected to reveal its policy recommendation for Kansas City later this week. Mayor Mark Funkhouser appointed the taskforce after taking office.

Mark Funkhouser: "I'm optimistic that the policy they recommend will be a very good one for this city. It's a policy we need. It will help guide future development. It will be a rulebook for developers and city leaders. "

The taskforce holds its final meeting Wednesday night. Funkhouser says he's confident the recommendations will make it through city council relatively unchanged. The mayor says the policy will be introduced as an ordinance, so any project that doesn't go by the guidelines would have to go through the full legislative process.
