Sixteen Arrested in Drug Bust

By Maria Carter

Kansas City, Kansas – Authorities say the drugs, mostly marijuana and cocaine, came into the area from Mexico. Some 22 people were named in an indictment and authorities are still seeking the rest of the remaining defendants. U-S attorney Eric Melgren says officers seized more than a million dollars in cash and his office is going after some 12 million dollars more in assets.

Melgren: Because one of our goals is to deny drug traffickers the profits of their illegal activities.

The investigation into the drug trafficking ring began a year and half ago and included agencies in nine states.
