Local Company Competes with Large Stock Exchanges

KANSAS CITY, MO – In just two years, a new stock trading network far from Wall Street managed to become the third-largest market center in the United States. BATS Trading is a small company with less than 50 employees that operates out of the Briarcliff Village shopping center, north of the river. KCUR's Sylvia Maria Gross reports.

UPDATE: On August 19, 2008, BATS Trading was granted exchange status by the Securities and Exchange Commission. This story was originally produced in January, 2008.
