WEB EXTRA: Maria Vasquez Boyd Reads from Primera P?gina

A graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute, Maria Vasquez Boyd's background is in painting and illustration. She says she only started writing poetry in the last few years. By Laura Spencer

Kansas City, MO – Vasquez Boyd says this poem called "Adios, Barbie" was inspired by a conversation with her college-aged daughter who told her about a lecture she attended about Barbie and the changing perceptions of women.

This poem is published in the anthology called Primera P?gina: Poetry from the Latino Heartland.
