- Republican candidate for Missouri Governor Kenny Hulshof came on strong in campaign fundraising, according to reports filed today. But he was far outpaced by Democratic candidate Jay Nixon, now Attorney General.
- In Kansas, Democratic Congressman Dennis Moore kept his wide funding lead over Republican Nick Jordan. Moore reported $900,000 in his war chest, while Jordan, state senator from Johnson county had a little over $300,000 in the bank.
- Lobbyists in the battle over Kansas Coal-fired power plants, by comparison, have spent nearly $800,000.
- And an unusual story - an 87-year-old patient at a Bonner Springs nursing home has been charged with attacking another patient and causing his death.
