Hundreds of union member filled the Capitol's south lawn earlier today urging lawmakers to punish Missouri employers who hire illegal immigrants. The demonstrators also urged mandating that businesses prove that their workers are legally in the United States. A Missouri House committee conducted a hearing today (Tuesday) on a bill that would repeal Missouri's ethanol mandate. The committee chose not to vote on the bill after the hearing concluded.Kansas Lieutenant Governor Mark Parkinson used an Earth Day ceremony today to call on state lawmakers to reject a proposed coal-fired power complex in western Kansas.
