Kansas City, MO –

  • Dedication ceremonies were held today for the new Federal Reserve Bank Building south of Union Station. Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke was the featured speaker.
  • The Kansas Supreme Court is now weighing whether to hold Johnson County District Attorney Phill Kline in contempt of court. The suit questions his handling of subpoenaed abortion records.
  • Missouri Governor Matt Blunt and economic development officials are in Montreal, meeting with Bombardier executives in hopes of persuading them to build a new airplane plant near KCI. In honor of the occasion, the Kansas City council passed its ordinance supporting the Bombardier project and offering additional incentives.
  • Clay Chastain's "light rail summit" at Penn Valley Community College produced a light turnout. All the local officials invited intentionally stayed away.
  • A new national study says Missouri and Kansas, and most states, provide few consumer protections against abuses companies that offer individual health coverage.
