KCUR Evening Newscast 6-13-08

Kansas City, MO –

  • Flooding in some Northeast Missouri areas could be as bad as the Great Flood of 1993 according to the National Weather Service. Sandbagging is going on with 900,000 bags deployed by the State Emergency Management Agency and the Corps of Engineers.
  • Two more lawsuits have been filed against current and former Roman Catholic clergy and the Kansas city-St. Joseph diocese, alleging child sex molestation and coverup. One case accuses Msgr. Thomas O'Brien. The other accused was a Capuchin order Brother, Earl Johnson.
  • There were nervous moments at the Kansas City Health Department this morning when a gun in a woman's handbag discharged, grazing a patron's leg. Officers are investigating.

  • Congress just eliminated federal funding for KCUR, but public radio is for the people.
