  • The first Missouuri execution has been scheduled since 2005. Dennis Skillicorn is set to die by lethal injection August 27.
  • Area leaders at transit summit support a regionals system that is mostly bus rapid transit. The were unwilling to commit to a start date for a light rail system.
  • A high profile murder trial is underway in Independence. Richard Davis is accused of two sado-masochistic murders that he and his girlfriend videotaped.
  • An audit of a Missouri tax credit program finds that the agency accepted inflated value assessments from some property donors.
  • A life-sized statue of Buck O'Neal was unveiled today at the Baseball Hall of Fame. Behind it, a quote: "Waste no tears for me. I didn't come along too early. I was right on time."
