Kansas City, MO –

  • The Kansas City city council has passed a volunteers policy ordinance that bans the mayor's wife from City Hall. The only "no" vote was from Mayor Funkhouser.
  • A Jackson County judge has overruled a motion by Gloria Squitiro, Mark Funkhouser's wife, to dismiss a lawsuit over discriminatory remarks Squitiro allegedly made to a staff volunteer.
  • Missouri Attorney General candidates Michael Gibbons and Chris Koster debated today on the MU-Columbia campus. Their area of strongest disagreement was on how Supreme Court judges should be selected.
  • Missouri Candidates for governor Jay Nixon and Kenny Hulshof also held their first debate, which remained cordial and issue-focused.

  • Congress just eliminated federal funding for KCUR, but public radio is for the people.
