Kansas City, MO –

  • The Kansas City, Missouri City Council has overridden Mayor Mark Funkhouser's veto of an ordinance that effectively bans Funhouser's wife from officing at City Hall.
  • The council also passed economic incentives for redevelopment in the Antioch Shopping Center and Citadel areas.
  • The Area Transit Authority presented testimony today on how light rail systems have succeeded and rejuvenated downtown areas in Portland and Charlotte.
  • Missouri Governor Matt Blunt says he opposes the plan to bail out Wall Street, and isn't sure it will be effective.
