Kansas City, MO –

  • Attorneys for former KC employee Ruth Bates have withdrawn a settlement offer in the part of her lawsuit involving Mayor Mark Funkhouser after the mayor issued a statement characterizing her as disloyal, vindictive and opportunistic.
  • A partnership involving the Kansas Speedway and the Cordish Company have at the last minute withdrawn their proposal for a $700 million casino complex near the speedway.
  • The Kansas Supreme Court allows Phill Kline to keep some documents in his prosecution of Planned Parenthood, but says Kline's behavior in the matter might be punished by disbarment.

  • Congress just eliminated federal funding for KCUR, but public radio is for the people.
