Kansas City, MO –

  • Former mayor's office employee Ruth Bates will take the city to the EEOC, charging that remarks by Funkhouser amounted to retaliation for filing discrimination charges. She also may file an additional defamation lawsuit.
  • Kansas City, MO leaders believe federal dollars may help meet a projected shortfall of over $80 million. They say U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill will plead the city's case.
  • The Dairy Farmers of America and two former officers will pay $12 million in settlement of charges the Kansas City-based cooperative engaged in speculative trading with the intent of manipulating the price of milk.
