Kansas City, MO – The Kansas City Star announced yesterday it will be laying off about 150 employees, or 15% of its workforce.

Kansas officials say the new federal stimulus package is beginning to provide tens of millions of dollars in benefits to the unemployed, and to Kansans who rely on food assistance.

Republican lawmakers are skeptical about Missouri Governor Jay Nixon's plans to expand Medicaid.
