The current heat index has prompted local health agencies to issue a health advisory, and open up public cooling centers across the metro.

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon and Illinois Governor Pat Quinn have agreed to work together to build a high-speed rail line between St. Louis and Chicago.

The state of Missouri's electric industry was examined Monday in Jefferson City at a joint meeting between utilities and regulators.

A summer camp at the Lake of the Ozarks is closed after two swine flu cases were reported. Fifty people also have been quarantined.

Crews from several states will be conducting a disaster exercise today at Crisis City near Salina.
