  • The Kansas City Council approved a Fire Department takeover of the city's ambulance services.

  • Council members also voted in favor Mayor Funkhouser's two nominees to the Tax Increment Financing Commission.

  • Steve Rose, the longtime publisher of the Johnson County Sun, has announced he's running for the third district congressional seat in Kansas, which is currently held by Dennis Moore.

  • The Missouri Ethics Commission has levied large fines against two political action committees, including one in Kansas City, that didn't properly report their finances.

  • Attorneys General from eight states, including Missouri, discussed combating mortgage fraud today in Washington D.C. with U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder.

  • A Kansas board of regents audit has found that KU athletic director Lew Perkins received money from a vendor for the athletic department.
