Kansas City, MO – The Kansas City Missouri school board voted 5 to 4 to close almost half of the district's schools last night.

Former Missouri House Speaker Rod Jetton says he did not solicit or take a bribe to kill a bill regulating adult entertainment in 2005. He gave that account after testifying to a federal grand jury in Kansas City.

Missouri transportation officials plan to save more than $200 million over the next five years by cutting spending and jobs.

Kansas Governor Mark Parkinson has signed a bill banning the possession, use, and sale of synthetic chemicals that mimic the properties of marijuana and ecstasy.

Final action is expected today in the Kansas House on a measure that lays the groundwork for expanded passenger rail service in the state.

Congress just eliminated federal funding for KCUR, but public radio is for the people.
