KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Five gunshots hit a bus full of Southwest High School football players Friday night at the football field at the former Southeast High School.

A city council committee put off a decision on funding to operate the Kansas City animal shelter for another month yesterday, saying time was needed for some business leaders to explore a way to avoid taking the dollars from the general fund.

The National Endowment for the Arts has again denied Kansas federal matching funds for arts programs.
