Group Calls For Rainy Day Fund

Forecasters call for Missouri’s revenues to grow by just over 3 percent during the next fiscal year, and a conservative group wants any left over money to be returned to taxpayers or added to the state’s Rainy Day fund.  Governor Nixon wants to expand Medicaid to an additional 300,000 Missourians.  Read more here.

Drought To Blame For Horse Disease

Dry weather is leading to an outbreak of pigeon fever in horses in Kansas.  Kansas State University experts say the disease is painful and is caused by bacteria found in the soil.  Veterinarians are hoping the outbreak will subside with the cold temperatures.  Find out more here.

Prairie Village Will Defend Open Carry Ban

Prairie Village officials plan to fight a lawsuit contesting the city’s ban on open carry of firearms.  The Libertarian Party sued Prairie Village, Leawood, and the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, saying the ban violates the state law and the Kansas Constitution.  Learn more here.
