Digest This: Food Controversies

Join Harvest Public Media for a live talk show and discussion on food production Friday at 4 p.m. CST.

We all eat.

That means we all have a stake in how food is produced. And many of us also have strong opinions.

Even if you don’t spend much time thinking about what you eat, it’s pretty hard to ignore the constant, polarizing food fights — which are often the subject of television commercials, books and movies.

To better understand the forces and strategies at work in these media battles, Harvest Public Media — along with partner station KBIA — will present “Digest This: The Messages and Motives Behind Farm and Food Controversies” on Friday, March 16, at 4 p.m. CST.

It's a live talk show focused on food production and farming. We'll webcast it live, and we'll host a live online chat, too. Or, you can tweet your comments and questions using the hashtag #DigestThis.

So please, join in.

Our panelists are:
Wes Jamison, an associate professor of communication at Palm Beach Atlantic University. His research involves political communication and public relations as it relates to food, agriculture, and science politics, and corporate communications.
* Mike Adams, host of AgriTalk, a syndicated radio talk show featuring discussions about issues and ideas important to rural America.
* Chris Chinn, a hog producer and fifth-generation farmer and former chair of the national AFBF Young Farmers & Ranchers Committee.
* Bruce Friedrich, senior director for strategic initiatives at Farm Sanctuary, a farm animal protection organization. He is the co-author of the “The Animal Activist’s Handbook.”

Digest This is presented by Harvest Public Media, KBIA and the Reynolds Journalism Institute.
