Alison DeSimone

Guest Host

Alison DeSimone is a musicologist, a harpsichordist, a teacher, and dedicated public radio listener. When she isn’t teaching music history classes at UMKC, you can find her listening to one of a thousand podcasts to which she subscribes, or streaming KCUR and 91.9 Classical KC. As an advocate for local music-making in Kansas City, she serves on the board of the Kansas City Baroque Consortium. While early music is her first love, she also enjoys classic 70s and 80s rock and often thinks about getting her cover band back together. She lives in KCMO with her partner and their two fur babies, Hildy and Gizmo.

  • What is sacred to Kansas City chamber choir Te Deum? Host Alison DeSimone speaks with Matthew Shepard and Rupal Gupta, from Te Deum, about performing with period instruments, and how they define sacred music. We'll hear performances of Brahms, Bach, Poulenc and more.
