As most college students prepare for final exams, one class at Park University is inviting the public to their final project. The class is called Acting Beyond Prejudice, and is staging three performances of a play that address how the students share challenges and biases.
Park University professor Marsha Morgan started the project called Acting Beyond Prejudice, a class and a play, a dozen years ago. Morgan says she was inspired by experiences of students of color who were finding the surrounding community less than hospitable.
The class concludes with the performance of a play that addresses issues of race, gender and other traits that identify and divide people. This year's student co-writer is Rebecca Rose.
Acting Beyond Prejudice runs April 24, 25, & 26, 2008, at 8:00 p.m. at Park University's Studio Theatre.
