Rural Route 4: "On the Farm in Old Missouri" [VIDEO]

The Missouri-based barbershop quartet, Rural Route 4, got its start in 1971. The original members were three farmers and one carpenter (who also grew up on a farm) from Cass County, Missouri.

Kansas City, Mo, – Fifteen years later (and after two personnel changes), Rural Route 4 won the international quartet championship in 1986. Here, the quartet sings an excerpt from the 1904 song "On the Farm in Old Missouri."

KCUR's Laura Spencer caught up with the group in a break room at the Sprint Center during the 73rd Annual Barbershop Harmony Society International Convention in Kansas City, Mo., July 3 - 10, 2011.
