Kansas City, MO – As a special assistant to former President Bill Clinton, Keith Boykin helped open the dialogue between the gay and lesbian community and the White House. That dialogue led to an executive order that changed employment policies for homosexuals in the federal government. Boykin graduated from Harvard Law School and is the author of two books, One More River to Cross: Black and Gay in America, and Beyond the Down Low. He spoke this week at UMKC about his work. Before the lecture, he talked with Delores Jones about the issues black homosexuals are still dealing with, and a recent phenomenon among black married men called "on the down low".
