It's starting to warm up, and Kansas City's food scene is changing.

KCUR’s Food Critics — Charles Ferruzza, Bonjwing Lee and Pete Dulin — have been watching what’s going on. They shared their news with host Gina Kaufmann on Friday’s Central Standard.

1. “I think 2016 is going to be the year of the ramen noodle,” said Ferruzza. Shio Ramen Shop is getting ready to open at 36th and Broadway, and Komatsu Ramen — which is owned by IlLazzarone’s Erik Borger — is also about to open near 39th and Broadway.

Also, according to Dulin, 75th Street Brewery has been sold to the owners of neighboring Summit Grill & Bar, which will move into 75th Street Brewery's space. And the owners will open a ramen shop in Summit Grill’s current spot.

2. Mi Asia at 15th and Grand has closed; another Thai restaurant is supposed to open in that space.

3. Some coffee shops have started to roast their own coffee, according to Lee: Post Coffee Company and Second Best Coffee.

4. Betty Rae’s Ice Cream opened last week, serving homemade ice cream and waffle cones.

5. Krokstrom Klubb & Market is a new Swedish restaurant on Broadway, across from the Uptown Theater. “It’s great,” said Lee, who said he's been spending time in Scandinavia and just got back from a trip to Sweden. “They’re trying to recreate some very Swedish traditions like fika (coffee and sweets) and a lot of the open-faced sandwiches. I really like their Swedish meatballs.”
