Sep 3, 2016

A 5.6 magnitude earthquake with an epicenter 14 kilometers northwest of Pawnee, Oklahoma, was felt around the Kansas City metro Saturday morning.

The tremor hit around 7:02 a.m., jolting many Kansas Citians from their holiday weekend slumbers.

The United States Geological Survey cautioned on social media sites that there could be aftershocks. According to the Associated Press, the earthquake was felt across the Great Plains, from Dallas to Omaha, Nebraska.

Oklahoma is fast becoming famous earthquakes. In 2014, it registered more perceptible tremors than anywhere else in the contiguous United States
