Boating & Fishing On KC Waters

On  Thursday’s Central Standard, we embark on the next installment in our three-part series looking at how we find water in our city. This time we look to the lakes and rivers, where fishers cast their nets, canoes glide across the water and boaters set sail.

Also, find out more about our new interactive map and how to join our water photo contest.

Where do you go to cool off on muggy KC summer days... when you’re sick of AC chills and the smell of chlorine? It’s time to seek out a day along our surrounding lakes and rivers  - from the Missouri River to the Kaw, from Longview Lake to Lake Waukomis.

Find out what you need to know about boating and boating safety. And where’s your best bet to find Bass, Trout, and Catfish for your fishing line?

Plus, what simple changes can we make this summer to conserve fresh water?

Time to dig out your digital camera – we’re asking you to get involved in a KCUR photo contest – we want to see where you go to seek out water. Send your photos to centralstandard@kcur.org. Those participating in the photo contest will get to see their photos in slideshow on the website.
