The Brits Popped Up A Consulate In KC This Week — And They're Throwing Some Parties

This week, the British consulate has come down from Chicago to make a pop-up office in Kansas City. If your inner Anglophile is already excited, just wait. They're sponsoring all kinds of cultural events that range from sports to live music.

Here are four ways you can take advantage of the festivities this weekend:

1. Rock out with the Beatles.

Even though we can't really reunite America's favorite Liverpudlians, tribute band Liverpool is the next best thing. So, if you've got a ticket to ride, and you listen to the Beatles eight days a week, check out this band's free concert at 8 p.m. Saturday at KC Live at the Power & Light District.

2. Learn some soccer skills from the guys who call it football.

English Premier League coaches are teaming up with Sporting KC at 3 p.m. Saturday at KC Live to give you and your kids a few tips when it comes to dribbling and more. Just don't take too many headers.

3. Eat like you're in Glasgow.

Want to chomp down on a Scotch egg and wash it down with some Irn-Bru? If you don't know what those things are, you can find out at the Taste of Scotland at 4 p.m. on Friday at 1200 Main Street, Kansas City.

4. Let contact sports bring our countries closer together.

Join rugby enthusiasts for the World Cup semi-finals at 10 a.m. Saturday or 11 a.m. Sunday at McFadden's, 1330 Grand Blvd., Kansas City.
