Chiefs Pick Eric Fisher

nfl.com

The Kansas City Chiefs made Eric Fisher, an offensive lineman from Central Michigan, the NFL’s first overall selection.

Four of the top seven picks in the NFL draft were offensive lineman.  As a former lineman, that suits Chiefs coach Andy Reid well.

Fisher stands 6 feet 7 inches tall, and he’s talking about adding a few pounds to current weight of 306 pounds.

Reid says Fisher will help the Chiefs.

“You can’t win without offensive lineman and you can’t win without defensive linemen,” says Reid.  “That’s just the way the game works.”

Fisher says his biggest influence is his mom, who has worked for Volkswagon the last 33 years in the warranty department.  With the money he’ll earn with the Chiefs, Fisher says she can plan to retire.

Sports have an economic and social impact on our community and, as a sports reporter, I go beyond the scores and statistics. I also bring the human element to the sports figures who have a hand in shaping the future of not only their respective teams but our town. Reach me at gregechlin@aol.com.
