Child Abuse Awareness / Visiting Artist Nico Phooko

Kansas and Missouri courts are facing a spike in the number of child abuse and neglect cases... but why? On this Monday's Central Standard, we ask if the growing number of child abuses cases in our area is linked to the economic downturn, and hear from an area organization working to meet that growing need.

We're joined by the Executive Directors of CASA (a.k.a. Court Appointed Special Advocates) Martha Gershun of Jackson County and Lois Rice of Johnson and Wyandotte Counties.

And stick around until the second half of our show, when we say hello to Nico Phooko, a visiting artist from South Africa. He's currently the Artist in Residence at the Kansas City Artists Coalitionthanks to the Lighton International Artists Exchange Program, and will be working with Shane Evansand his Dream Studio to create programs for young people in our area.
