Construction Projects Growing In KC

Kansas City seems to be building its way to an economic recovery. Take, for instance, Cerner's proposed redevelopment of the property that formerly housed Bannister Mall -- with office buildings that could potentially house 15,000 new jobs.

In the first part of Thursday's Up to Date, we talk with Kansas City Star development reporter Kevin Collisonabout the spike in residential construction, an IKEA under construction in Merriam, a possible revamp of the historic Savoy Hotel & Grill and other projects in the metro area.

When I host Up To Date each morning at 9, my aim is to engage the community in conversations about the Kansas City area’s challenges, hopes and opportunities. I try to ask the questions that listeners want answered about the day’s most pressing issues and provide a place for residents to engage directly with newsmakers.
